NYU Langone moves ahead with Lutheran Medical Center merger

NYU Langone disclosed in recent financial statements that it has committed $190 million over five years to the Sunset Park hospital.

NYU Langone will merge with Brooklyn’s Lutheran Medical Center.

NYU Langone Medical Center disclosed that it is proceeding with a full-asset merger with Brooklyn’s Lutheran Medical Center instead of their current financial arrangement. NYU Langone didn’t initially expect to switch gears when it first signed an affiliation deal with Lutheran. But the hospitals decided to pursue a merger “to expedite the growth of NYU Lutheran as a premier site for high-quality medical care in Brooklyn and to address the increasing financial challenges it faces,” according to an application seeking regulatory approval from the state Department of Health.
