Balfour Beatty Lands Capitol Crossing Contract in DC

Washington—Balfour Beatty’s relationship with Capitol Crossing in Washington, D.C., continues as the company lands yet another contract for the 2.2 million-square-foot mixed-use development. Property Group Partners, developer of Capitol Crossing, just awarded the general contracting firm a $196 million contract to build the North Block phase of the $1.3 billion project.
Designed to link the Capitol Hill and East End neighborhoods, Capitol Crossing will offer a work-play environment with office, retail and public open space spanning a three-block elevated deck hovering over I-395. The North Block segment of the 7-acre development comprises two 12-story trophy office towers encompassing an aggregate 960,000 square feet of Class A space, and premier ground-level retail totaling 70,000 square feet.
