Philippines Signals Price Rebound Risk From CPI at 17-Year Low

Philippine central bank Governor Amando Tetangco said policy makers are watching inflationary impact of oil prices and El Nino, even with consumer prices at a 1998-low.

Oil price movements “have knock-on effects on domestic pump prices, transport and other utilities, and consumption in general,” Tetangco said in a mobile-phone text message Friday. Officials are also looking at the “impact of a possibly prolonged El Nino on the food supply chain.”…
