GGP Says Baltimore’s Mondawmin Mall Still Closed; Working on Reopening
ByBaltimore’s Mondawmin Mall, which earlier this week was invaded by a horde of looters, is owned by General Growth Properties Inc.
The Chicago company confirmed that stores within the 450,552-square-foot property, which includes 65,352 sf of office space and is 98.5 percent leased, had been looted. The property since has remained shuttered.
According to Sandeep Mathrani, GGP’s chief executive, the property’s management team had remained on the premises when it was “breached and stores were looted.” Speaking on a conference call with analysts yesterday, he called the mall an “important retail and social fixture within the community,” adding that GGP was “working diligently” to reopen it…
