ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE SOLDUltimate Fighting Championship has become a global sports empire, with an eye-popping price tag to match, Michael J. de la Merced reports in DealBook.

The league, which promotes mixed martial arts, is expected to announce as soon as Monday that it has sold itself to a group led by the talent giant WME-IMG for about $4 billion, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. The private equity firms Silver Lake and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and the investment firm of the billionaire Michael S. Dell are backing the deal.

U.F.C. says millennials make up about 45 percent of its audience and it is shown in more than 156 countries. As well as headline fights, the new owners will get about 2,000 hours of material each year, much of it streaming on its Fight Pass service…
